TeamViewer, a piece of software that enables users to connect and control remote computers with great ease, has reached version 9.0 Build 24147.

TeamViewer is a very handy piece of software, and it's good to see that the Linux version is now almost on par with the ones released on the other platforms.

Before getting all giddy about the prospects of using TeamViewer on a Linux platform, you need to know that it's actually running through Wine. You wouldn't really notice, with the exception of the way the application looks.

If you're willing to accept this simple fact, then you will find that the Linux version of TeamViewer is a blast and it's the sort of application that anyone should have.

According to the developers, instant support for Linux customers is now even simpler because the users start the brief customer module, without needing installation or admin rights, making the intervention in case of a problem a lot easier.

This is actually one of the highlights of the application, but it does raise some questions about the security and the means by which this control is accomplished.

Other features include better video transfer, improved notifications, customized customer modules, two-factor authentication protection of the TeamViewer account, wake-on-LAN with TeamViewer, different tabs for the client, and quite a few others.

Keep in mind that “for technical and licensing reasons, a remote control connection in the other direction, i.e., from TeamViewer 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 to TeamViewer 9, is not possible. Meetings with version 9 are also accessible for participants with version 7, 8, however, vice versa it is not possible due to the mentioned reasons.”

A complete list of changes and new features is available in the official announcement. Download TeamViewer 9.0 Build 24147 right now from Softpedia.
