There is no limit to the reach of Microsoft's latest operating system Windows Vista. Well, in all fairness, Windows Vista has performed exceptionally in a harsh environment involving sub-zero temperatures before. The operating system has more than proven its versatility when Microsoft threw it in icy cold conditions as a marketing stunt for the Wow campaign. Following the general availability of Vista, Microsoft built and opened to the public the Digital Ice House in Dundas Square, Toronto, Ontario. Nothing but Windows Vista and ice....

Well, another initiative from Ricavision has paired up the operating system with an indispensable "utensil" in your kitchen, namely your fridge. In this regard, the MK 140 FM Fridge Magnet/Scribbler Device for Windows Vista was introduced at WinHec 2007.

"Ricavision has taken to heart our vision of bringing Windows Vista and Windows SideShow-enabled devices to the homes of millions, and the result after a few short weeks of intense effort is a trio of compelling new devices," said Greg Parks, development manager and architect for Windows SideShow at Microsoft. "We continue to be impressed by Ricavision's capabilities."

OK, I admit it, Windows Vista pre-loaded fridges are still a long way ahead from being available to the public. But still, there is potential in that idea, considering the MK140 FM Magnet. Although it is in essence a fridge magnet, the device can be attached to other metallic surfaces as well, delivering an electronic Notepad featuring Windows SideShow capabilities. Ricavision portable home "scribbler" device is continuously connected to a Windows Vista powered machine. Users will be able not only to enjoy the contents of the Windows SideShow but also to scribble down notes with a stylus, and then access them both on the MK140 and on the Vista computer.

"Our new electronic scribbler device is another step in our vision for the future, integrating the most convenient wireless communication capabilities into our customers' everyday lives," said Max Li, CEO. "By coordinating with Microsoft, we feel confident that the MK140 FM Fridge Magnet will provide users of Windows Vista with enhanced functionality and significant value."
