It looks like Microsoft continues to disappoint its fans with arguable decisions regarding its products. After removing the Start button from Windows 8, Microsoft is now rumored to plan the removal of the Back button from Windows Phone.

Although the Redmond-based company reintroduced the Start button in the latest iteration of Windows, it was at users’ request that the feature was added.

Even though Microsoft has yet to confirm its decision to lose the Back button, numerous Windows Phone users have expressed their disapproval of the removal of this feature.

According to Paul Thurot, Microsoft plans to get rid of the Back button from Windows Phone platform because users have found it confusing.

Obviously, we can’t say for sure if this is the real reason for the Back button removal, but rumors suggest that Microsoft is in fact trying to make Windows Phone more suitable for tablet.

Windows Phone user Dev Jaykrishnan has posted a suggestion on the Windows Phone users voice site, which is a cry for rally aimed at all those who don’t agree with Microsoft’s possible decision to remove the Back button.

“I get that some people don't get how to use the Back Button. Don't disable it though. It'll look awkward for those of us who have older models to have a non-functioning button. Make it an option to disable it in the settings! Please don't make it a mandatory feature!”

For the time being, Jaykrishnan’s plea has only around 900 votes, but that is mostly because Microsoft is yet to come forward with an official statement regarding its plans for the next version of Windows Phone.

Unfortunately, this won’t happen until next week, when Microsoft and Nokia are expected to unveil several new devices, along with the next iteration of Windows Phone operating system. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
