Microsoft's Windows Phone mobile platform has been under-development and was hardly capable of meeting the competition, but this is about to change once the major update Mango will be launched on the market.

Furthermore, Microsoft seems to be taking care of every aspect of its mobile operating system and is close to re-branding the all-known circular Windows logo that pops up on the boot screen of the WP7 smartphones.

According to Japanese Windows Phone evangelist Takahashi, Microsoft plans to replace the current rounded logo with a square-shaped one, which appeared for the first time on the 'Mango' build 7710's boot up screen, back in May.

If Microsoft decides to go official with the new square logo, it won't come as a surprise, as the shape of the new logo perfectly mimics the “tile” system specific to Windows Phone OS.

The information is also confirmed by Fujitsu's IS12T smartphone, which is the world's first device to be delivered with Windows Phone Mango on board.

It appears that Fujitsu's IS12T displays the same square-shaped variant, which is a minimalist adaptation of the phone's Metro UI.

It is also remarkable how Microsoft considered to re-think the circular Windows Phone logo and implement it without making any official announcement, which usually implies a direct approach.

Instead the company preferred to adopt the new square logo silently and put it on every more or less official device and document, thus the new logo became a trend and almost made the old one a thing of the past.

In this regard, it looks like all press invites at various Nokia and Microsoft events related to the Windows Phone platform are carrying the new squared-shaped logo for quite some time.

In addition, all Windows Phone Mango versions starting with build 7710 have also been tagged with the new logo.
