14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft announced earlier this year (in January) a Windows Game Developer Contest where participants could win up to $10,000.
The only thing they would need to do is submit their games, and a Microsoft panel would judge all these submissions based on quality (50%), creativity (30%), and technical excellence (20%).
The Redmond-based company would offer $10,000 for the first place, $5,000 for the second place, and $3,000 for the third place. Also, Microsoft announced that 10 honorable mentions would win $1,000 each.
According to Microsoft, submissions can be either original games or games ported to Windows or Windows Phone from existing published games on other platforms.
These initiatives are great for startups and small developers that do not have the resources to finance their ideas.
And so, developer ThinkFast Studio has recently confirmed that they have won the second place in this contest, which will allow them to continue to work on their Windows Phone game called Cublast.
The prize will allow devs to continue to improve their game
“Almost 2 month's ago we submitted our Windows Phone game Cublast for the Windows Game Developer Contest. A few days ago we finished 2nd place and won $5,000. This allows us to develop our game further.”
“As you can imagine we are really happy about it and want to serve our loyal users tons of new features, we are currently looking for feedback for our next build,” they say.
ThinkFast Studio is made by two Dutch students who share a passion for games, and Cublast is the title that won them $5,000 a few days ago.
Cublast is an “agility game” that is free to download and play. It features tilt and touch controls with many challenging levels that players need to overcome.
You can now download Cublast for Windows Phone for free via Windows Phone Store. The game should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up.
