Vodafone Australia was among the first carriers to confirm that it is waiting to receive the Windows Phone Blue update for all the Nokia Lumia devices in its portfolio. According to the Australian operator, the said update should arrive in late June / early July.

Well, it looks that the information provided by Vodafone Australia was correct in part, as the carrier has just confirmed that it has received the highly anticipated Windows Phone 8.1 update and it is now testing it.

Unfortunately, Vodafone only got the update for Nokia Lumia 925, but it’s also expecting Windows Phone 8.1 for Lumia 625, Lumia 720, Lumia 820 and Lumia 1320.

These updates are currently tagged as “awaiting software for testing; ETA late June / early July.” It’s the same tagline with which Vodafone somewhat confirmed earlier this month when Windows Phone users should expect to receive the major update.

So, Nokia Lumia 925 owners who purchased their smartphones through Vodafone Australia’s official retail channels should receive the Windows Phone 8.1 update as early as next week.

According to the carrier, testing a major update usually takes between 5 and 10 business days and the update seems to have been received on June 26.

From all the Lumia smartphones now available on the market, it looks like Microsoft has chosen the Lumia 925 as the first to receive the Windows Phone 8.1 update.

As we reported yesterday, it appears that Nokia Lumia 925 owners in Finland were the first to receive the Windows Phone 8.1 upgrade as part of a pilot. Shortly after, Lumia 925 users in Argentina reported that they had captured the update as well.

Users in Finland are even offered the option to have their Lumia 925 smartphone upgraded to Windows Phone 8.1 at a Nokia Store in Helsinki on June 26 and 27.

Since Microsoft kicked off the rollout of the Windows Phone 8.1 in Finland and Argentina, no other Lumia 925 users located in other countries have reported the availability of the update.

However, we expect things to improve in the next couple of days and more Lumia smartphones will start receiving the highly anticipated update.

Keep in mind though that Windows Phone 8.1 will be rolled out in stages, so it will not be available for everyone at the same time. In fact, availability will depend on smartphone model, country and carrier.

We will keep an eye out for any additional details on Windows Phone 8.1’s rollout, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
