One of the features that mobile phone users in Russia interested in adopting the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system will enjoy on their devices will be VKontakte integration, which provides them with more options when it comes to social networking.

A recent report coming from Russian newspaper Tass.com unveils that and suggests that the VKontakte integration is set to become available for users in the country very soon.

However, some users in Russia already claim to enjoy the feature, as can be seen in the comment section for this post on WMPoweruser.

As it turns out, while VKontakte was already available for Windows Phone users out there, the aforementioned integration with the platform should provide users with some additional capabilities when compared to what was offered to them before.

Apparently, Microsoft and the social network have established a partnership on the matter, and VKontakte will come integrated right within the mobile operating system as part of the deal.

Moreover, the aforementioned report unveils that the two companies will work together to ensure that users will enjoy easy on-the-go synchronization of data between the smartphone and the social network.

Thus, users will be able to stay on top of their friends’ whereabouts at all times. However, as we understand from the report, users might actually have to select a list of contacts they want to be kept synced with.

The new integration with the social platform is expected to debut in Windows Phone 8.1 in Russia on the Nokia Lumia 930, which should arrive on shelves in the country sometime in July.

Additionally, a brand-new VKontakte application is said to become available for download for Windows Phone devices, one that will be able to take full advantage of the newly announced capabilities.

For those out of the loop, we should note that VKontakte, which is the equivalent of Facebook in Russia, is one of the most popular social networks in the country.

Windows Phone 8.1 was made official in early April this year and has been available for download as a Developer Preview since the middle of that month.

The first handsets to run under the platform right from the start have already arrived on shelves, in the form of Nokia Lumia 630 and Lumia 635, with the Lumia 930 apparently being the next such device to be released.

The mobile OS is expected to become available for download for existing Windows Phone 8 handsets very soon as an official update, packing a series of enhancements and fixes when compared to the Developer Preview release.
