Good news for Windows Phone fans, as Microsoft plans to improve the folder support in its mobile operating system. Currently, Windows Phone users can manage their Start Screen using an application released several weeks ago, App Folder.

Unfortunately, the application is not quite what Windows Phone users have expected and the process of making folder is unintuitive. Though some may argue that they do not need to manage their Start screen using another application, Microsoft is readying a new way of organizing folders.

The information has been recently confirmed by Microsoft through its Windows Phone website where people could get instructions on how to make folders on their Start screens.

The webpage has been since removed, but NokiaPowerUser was able to nab a screenshot of the whole set of details regarding the procedure that you need to follow in order to organize your Start screen by folders.

Unlike the procedure you have to go through in order to manage your Start screen using App Folder, the new application that should be available soon will add native folder support, which means that you will be able to create folders with ease.

According to the listing on Microsoft’s website, “Folders help you keep your Start screen organized by letting you group Tile the way you like. For example, you have a folder with all your games or one with your favorite apps. It’s completely up to you.

Your phone might even already have a folder on the Start screen, such as a Music and videos folders. After you create a folder, you can name it, move it, resize it, and or remove Tiles from it whenever you want.”

In order to create folders once the new feature gets integrated into Windows Phone, simply tap and hold a Tile on Start screen. Then, drag the Tile on top of another Tile that you want to have in the same folder.

If you want to name a folder, tape Name folder, and then type the name you wish to give to that specific folder. You can add more Tiles in the same folder by tapping and then dragging it into the folder. You can also drag the Tile to anywhere on the Start screen if you want to remove a Tile from a folder.

Microsoft has also confirmed that in order to be able to create folders on the Start screen, one would need to have Windows Phone 8.1 update installed on their smartphones, which means that the new feature might be rolled out along with the upgrade.
