sk0t has been arrested, fact which comes as quite a blow to torrent users all around the world. He was the one that uploaded Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith before its theatrical release, as The Register informs. Known under the name Scott McCausland in real life, he is the ex-admin of Elite Torrents BitTorrent tracker, of which I'm sure many of you have heard about by now.

He has been trialed and sentenced. He had admitted his crimes, which are criminal copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit copyright infringement. Well? What did you expect? He was a cyber-pirate! Well, he will sleep in the slammer for the next five months and then he will have to serve five months of home confinement. He had nothing to argue about that. He has even been issued with a bracelet to be easier to track him, but that still didn't piss him off. He also will have his PC monitored now, but what really annoyed him is the fact that the government can only monitor Windows, while he had Linux installed.

So, now he has to go from his Ubuntu Linux to Microsoft Windows, fact against which he has protested. According to The Register, the culprit has stated that he is already in a nasty situation, being unemployed with 2 felonies on his file and with a small chance of employment after he gets out of jail, and the government now forces him to change his life, making him buy Windows and a whole new set of programs. So, he is facing a tough choice: give up Linux, or give up PC access! He has also stated that he is not going to let go of this whole issue and that he and his attorney will fight this decision, as seen on the same site I mentioned above.
