Windows Mobile 7 has been rumored for a while now to be the mobile operating system that would come from the Redmond-based Microsoft featuring support for the company's Zune services, and it seems that now the software giant confirms in a way these rumors, by posting on its site a job ad for the Windows Mobile team that makes a reference to said feature. This is not the first time Microsoft spills the beans on some of its plans for the platform, so, in the end, it should prove to be true.

Here is what the job post states in regard to the services that should come along with the next-generation operating system: “Responsibilities – Deliver core platform technology to internal and external partners. Effectively design, schedule, build and deliver on a v1 product and existing products. Collaborate with partners such as Outlook Mobile, Database, Zune, Shell, and OS. Deliver detailed specifications for the technical architecture of the system. Help mentor other members on the Dev team.”

To put this in simpler words, we should say that the job post shows that the Windows Mobile team is looking for a Software Development Engineer, as the company is working on offering Windows Mobile users the possibility to enjoy features such as email, IM, SMS, calendar, contacts, photo sharing, and access to social networks. The engineer will be part of the team that “owns that experience end to end from phone to connectivity to Windows Live and Exchange services. Millions of Windows Mobile customers all around the world use what we build in this team every day,” which means that, if the team is also working on some Zune features for the upcoming platform, we should all be able to enjoy them.

In addition, the job post also suggests that the Windows Mobile 7 platform will come with a heavy focus on communication features, including access to social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter or Live wave 4. Basically, all the features that Windows Mobile 7 is expected to include should offer users the possibility to easily manage the communication capabilities of the device, while also offering a rich integration with a series of services. Moreover, it seems that the integration of different applications on the platform will also be different from what we are already accustomed to see in the existing versions of the OS.

All in all, small bits of information on what Microsoft has in mind for the upcoming Windows Mobile 7 are continuously surfacing into the wild, allowing us to make a broad idea on how the platform should look like. Compared to existing iterations of the OS, it should come along with a wide range of improvements, not to mention a series of new features that will be included with Windows Mobile 7, but which won't be present in the upcoming WinMo 6.5 either. Stay tuned to learn more details on what Microsoft will include in the future WM 7 OS.
