The release of the two web cams from Microsoft is part of the software giant's market trajectory to increase the use of video features in Windows Live Messenger and to expand its VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) products as a part of its effort to solidify Windows line services.

Windows Live Messenger users will have, starting with August, the opportunity to get a hold of one of the two video hardware pieces by Microsoft created to integrate with instant-messaging services and PC-to-phone calling application with video capability.

Both web cameras will have built in noise-canceling microphones that will eliminate unwanted ambient sounds, but the features vary from here on. Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000 offers a 1.3 mega pixel resolution for pictures and a 640*480 resolution for video stream at a price of $49.95, being a standard camera with a relevant price tag.

Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000 uses interpolation technology to capture 5 mega pixel still images. For $99.95 the users will be able to film at a high-definition, 1.3 mega pixel resolution. Furthermore, Lifecam VX-6000 has a 71 degree wide-angle lens that covers more area.

"Microsoft Hardware and Windows Live are defining that movement with a new approach to integrated products and services that give consumers the power to have a richer digital communications experience and make everyday events extraordinary," said Tom Gibbons, Microsoft's Consumer Productivity Experiences Executive Vice President.
