As some of you will certainly remember, a while ago, AMD released the world's first APU for embedded systems, the G Series, and now, we've come across a new series of thin clients from Wyse (Z90) that leverages the advantages provided by the aforementioned embedded platform.

The Z90 series includes the Z90SW, Z90DW, Z90S7 and Z90D7 models, all of which however share a common set of features, starting with the choice of CPUs, namely the AMD G-T52R 1.5GHz Processor with AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics or the dual core AMD G-T56N 1.6 GHz Processor with AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics.

The CPUs are also accompanied by 4GB Flash memory and 2GB RAM memory for Windows Embedded Standard 7 (expandable up to 32GB Flash / 4GB RAM), while also packing two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports and four USB 2.0 ports.

Moreover, the devices' connectivity options' list also includes DisplayPort and DVI interfaces, plus optional parallel, PS/2 and dual serial port support, as well as support for gigabit Ethernet, available integrated A/B/G/N dual band Wi-Fi, or FiberNIC.

Additionally, as mentioned right from the title, the new Z90 thin client runs the Windows Embedded Standard 7 operating system, meaning that it grants users fast and easy access to the power and performance of Windows 7, in a much lighter form.

"The goal at Wyse is to make our Windows Embedded offerings built with the Windows Embedded portfolio of platforms and technologies the best, easiest to use, and fastest clients on the planet," said Ricardo Antuna, Senior Vice President of Product Management, Business Development and Alliances at Wyse Technology.

“With the introduction of the Wyse Z90 we've done that; more than doubling the performance capabilities of competing top-of-the-line thin clients with similar energy requirements," Mr. Antuna added.

Unfortunately, Wyse has not provided any info on the pricing of the Z90 series thin clients, so if you're interested in purchasing some of these new computing systems for your company, you'll have to contact the company directly.
