Microsoft is planning to introduce updates to the content available on the Windows Desktop Developer Center.

According to the Content Project Manager for the Windows Developer Center, the updated resources are planned to go live quite soon, as soon as this week in fact.

At the time of this article the Windows Desktop Developer Center was yet to be updated, but make sure to keep your eyes on this space, and I’ll provide an update when the refresh goes live.

If you want to hear it directly from Microsoft, then all that you have to do is either follow the Windows Developer Twitter account or check out the Windows Developer Facebook Page.

“Over the course of this week, we have been working hard on some new social developer content that may or may not be launching next week,” the Windows Developer Center Content PM added. “We have also continued driving the TOC changes for the learn tab on MSDN.”

Despite the proximity of the BUILD conference and of the first public development milestone of Windows 8, the Windows Desktop Developer Center refresh doesn’t seem to be connected in any way to the upcoming release of the Windows client.

Instead, the Windows Developer Center Content PM pointed out that the BUILD event between September 13-16 in Anaheim, CA, is key to hitting the ground running in terms of development for Windows 8.

“We can't emphasize this enough, Build is a big deal and we're very excited. You can also follow the @bldwin account to receive the build conference announcements and offers,” he said.

I’m sure that once Microsoft starts sharing the first Windows 8 bits with developers, either a pre-Beta or the actual Beta, the Redmond company will also provide a plethora of additional resources from the software development kit (Windows 8 SDK) to training content.
