The fact that Windows 8 will be accompanied by a Cloud application hub dubbed the Windows Store is not really much of a secret anymore.

Of course, not because Microsoft has shared officially any details on either of the two, since this is not the case, and probably won’t be until later this year when the Windows 8 Beta development milestone goes live.

As usual, information on the forthcoming iteration of Windows comes largely from leaks, with Build 7955 containing some new details.

There are references to the Windows Store client and the Windows Store service in Windows 8 Milestone 2 (M2) pre-M3 Build 6.2.7955.0 (6.2.7955.0.110228-1930) as users can see from the images included into this article, courtesy of MSWin with Windows8Beta providing some additional screenshots.

When I reported earlier about the Windows Store for Windows 8 (also referred to as the Windows 8 App Store), I speculated that the software giant would produce a client for the service.

This would not be a new strategy for the Redmond company, if Windows Live Essentials provide any clues in this regard.

Microsoft remains the adept of Software plus Services as opposite to Software and Services, and the company has touted time and again the advantages of native desktop experiences even in the case of web applications.

Of course, the advent of Internet Explorer 9 and the integration of Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) into Windows 8, also makes me think about the possibility of having Windows Store served as an HTML5 app to users through the browser.

Although this is a valid option for Microsoft, personally I continue to believe that customers will need to fire up some sort of native Windows 8 client in order to get to the Windows Store.

This is all speculation on my part and it needs to be treated as such, of course, but I’m extremely curious to find out what you think and what you’d want to see from Windows 8 and Windows Store. Comment section below.
