With the first upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 provided to OEMS, MSDN and TechNet subscribers and Volume License customers, Microsoft is now also offering additional resources, including the documentation designed to accompany Service Pack 1. Documentation for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) went live on the Microsoft Download Center concomitantly with the release of the SP1 RTM bits for MSDN and TechNet subscribers.

Early adopters that ran the Beta and then the Release Candidate (RC) of Windows 7 SP1 might remember that the documentation was also provided for the pre-RTM versions of the service pack.

With the software giant having announced officially the release to manufacturing of Windows 7 SP1 last week, the documentation is now tailored to the RTM Build of the upgrade.

“The following documentation for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 is provided here:

•Deployment Guide for Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 and Windows 7 with SP1

•Hotfixes and Security Updates included in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1

•Installing Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 (“readme”)

•Release Notes for Windows 7 with SP1

•Release Notes for Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1,” the company said.

Just head over to the Microsoft Download Center in order to access Documentation for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932).

Users need to be aware that in order to download the resources, they will first need to prove that their copy of Windows is genuine.

There is one additional piece of documentation that’s missing, at least for the time being. According to the Redmond company, it has yet to deliver Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 Notable Changes, but will do so soon.
