Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system has been widely appreciated by both media and consumers, thanks to its more user-friendly interface, ease of use, and other features that enable it to run smoother than the software giant's previous OS, the infamous Windows Vista. In now appears that some PC vendors, Acer included, are also showing their satisfaction with the new OS. Acer, the world's second largest vendor of personal computer systems, has just announced that the launch of Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, has been positive for year-end PC sales.

According to a recent news report, by Reuters, Taiwan's Acer Inc. has seen a positive impact on sales, with the launch of Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, last month. However, the gains were within expectations, the article said. In addition, the company's CEO said it was keeping its revenue outlook and maintaining a forecast of 15 percent sales growth for the next year.

“When we saw the features of Windows 7, we already knew that it would be good for demand,” Gianfranco Lanci, the company's CEO told reporters on Thursday. “We have no plans to revise.”

Acer isn't the only PC vendor that has seen a boost of sales, after the launch of Microsoft's appreciated Windows 7. The aforementioned report also talks about the world's number 3 PC maker, Dell, which said that it too saw a spike in sales, thanks to the launch of Windows 7. Meanwhile, HP, currently the top player in the PC market, has raised its annual outlook, thanks to the growth in China, which helped the company's quarterly sales.

Acer has big plans for next year, as the company expects a 50 percent growth in the global netbook market, while also hoping to become the number 3 PC maker in Japan and in China, by 2011. On that note, the company reported a quarterly net profit of US$108 million in October, with a 14 percent increase over the same period, last year.
