With the one year anniversary of Windows 7 just around the corner, Microsoft has kicked off the celebration by bringing back one of the special offerings which accompanied the launch of the operating system in 2009. With the Family Pack package, customers can upgrade no less than three computers in their household to Windows 7 Home Premium by paying only $149.99.

For the time being the special deal is limited to the United States, but the promise from the software giant is that customers around the world will also be able to take advantage of the offering later this month.

Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Family Pack is already available for purchase as of the end of last week.

“Customers in the United States can purchase the Windows 7 Family Pack at participating retailers and online at the Microsoft Store,” revealed Microsoft’s Ashley Brown.

“This is your chance to get up to three PCs running Windows 7 Home Premium for the low price of $149.99 ERP. But act fast—Family Pack is only available while supplies last.”

For customers with multiple machines, running Windows 7 on all their computers makes sense especially considering the advantages that features such as Home Group offers.

With Home Group multiple PCs can be linked together, simplifying hardware resource and content sharing.

“According to IDC’s Consumerscape 360 data, the average U.S. household has two PCs and, for most of these households, setting up a home network is not the easiest task,” Brown explained.

“To meet the needs of these families, Windows 7 was designed with home networking in mind. Windows 7 Home Premium comes with HomeGroup, a new feature that makes sharing photos, music and files between all the PCs in your home network a snap.

“It’s especially handy if all of your PCs share a printer,” he added.

But while for now only US customers can buy Windows 7 Family Pack, the package is also coming to customers around the world on October 22nd, 2010, exactly one year after the launch of Windows Vista’s successor.

Still, customers interested in acquiring Windows 7 Family Pack need to hurry, since the offering is limited, and will only be available while supplies last.

Brown enumerated the “countries where Family Pack will be available:

United States, Canada, UK, France, Germany, China, Russia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Australia, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Romania, and Ukraine.” Windows 7 RTM Enterprise 90-Day Evaluation is available for download here.
