Microsoft has increased the frequency at which it is delivering updates of a resource designed to help customers access information related to the applications that play nice with Windows 7.

A new version of the Windows 7 Application Compatibility List for IT Professionals is now available for download from the Redmond company.

As it was the case with previous releases of the list, IT pros can head over to the Microsoft Download Center and grab the list free of charge.

The software giant had taken a small break from updating the Windows 7 Application Compatibility List for IT Professionals earlier this year.

The Redmond company explained that it has been necessary to hit pause on offering refreshes to the list in order to introduce changes that would end up improving the quality of the information contained by the resource.

Now the list features info on approximately 20,000 applications, offering IT pros details on the status of Windows 7 compatibility.

It’s important to underline that although the list is intended for IT professionals, Microsoft does not restrict access in any way, and all users can download and leverage it.

Of course, as far as end users are concerned they’d be better off taking advantage of Windows 7 Compatibility Center which also offers information on the hardware products that are compatible with the latest iteration of the Windows client from Microsoft.

“The Windows 7 Application Compatibility List for IT Professionals is a Microsoft Office Excel-based spreadsheet listing software applications which have met Windows 7 Logo Program testing requirements for compatibility with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7, and have thereby earned the right to display the Windows 7 Logo Program logo with the application.

“These products are identified with the compatibility status “Compatible – Windows 7 Logo,” Microsoft informed.
