Microsoft will be adding a new dark theme in Windows 10 in order to give more customization power to users upgrading to the new operating system, but it turns out that the software giant has actually even more plans than that.

It seems that Redmond is working on a feature that would allow the desktop to match the Windows visual style, so you can easily adjust the theme by simply changing the colors of the operating system.

Similar options were already spotted in previous Windows 10 Technical Preview builds, when the Start menu matched the color of the taskbar, but it appears that Redmond is actually planning to expand this feature to the whole desktop, including the notification center.

More customization power for users

There are new animations when opening and closing the Start menu, as well as a transparency effect, for a more appealing look on the desktop. Resizing options, which were part of the first technical preview builds, will also be part of the final version of the operating system, again based on the opinion of testers.

Windows 10 for phones is projected to launch in the second half of 2015, so expect many more such customization options to be added. In the meantime, everyone’s waiting for a new icon pack...
