14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft released Windows 10 for Phones Preview several hours ago, but only a handful of smartphone are compatible with this version of the operating system. In time, more devices will be added to the list of eligible devices but for now only six handsets can run it.
Since Microsoft did not release any screenshots for Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview, the many people now owning one of the six compatible smartphones have been dying to see what the Redmond-based company did with their favorite OS.
Luckily, reddit user trouzy published lots of screenshots that offer us more than a glimpse at what we can expect from Windows 10 for Phones.
Judging by these screenshots, Microsoft made quite a few changes when it comes to visuals, but they also tweaked the OS quite a lot.
This seems to be the only thing that all those who have seen the screenshots can agree on, Windows 10 for Phone is quite different from any of the previous versions.
Most people who saw them suggest that Microsoft is trying to give Windows 10 for Phones a completely new look that's much closer to what Android and iOS platforms offer now, which is why they don't like it.
The resemblance with Android and iOS displeases Windows Phone fans
It's been suggested that Microsoft is trying to make Windows 10 for Phone less confusing for users, but that will bring the OS closer to Apple's iOS and Google's Android.
There are a lot of subtle changes and tweaks that some might find inappropriate or simply ugly, but keep in mind that this is just a technical preview that still needs some polishing.
The following parts of the OS seem to be similar to the previous version of Windows Phone: Calendar, Phone, Messaging, Music and Office. But there are several things that look different in Windows 10 for Phones as well: Action center, Background image, Cortana, Photos, and Settings.
