Microsoft has reportedly started the phone rollout

Microsoft already confirmed on January 21 that a preview build of Windows 10 for phones would ship early this month, and a recent rumor suggested that February 4 was very likely to be the day when the rollout would officially begin.

While our phones are yet to get the Windows 10 treatment, it appears that this rumor wasn't entirely fake, as some devices have already received what seems to be an early build of the new OS.

A report by Neowin claims that a number of testers have received what's currently being identified as Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones 8.15.12492.41, which, by the looks of it, seems to be nothing else than the first preview for the new Windows 10 for phones.

Details are not available right now, but judging by the version number, which is 8.15 in this case, Microsoft is indeed ready to start the Windows 10 rollout to users across the world.

And yet, it's not yet clear whether the same build would be shipped to everyone registered to the Windows Insider for phones program, and word has it that only 1,000 testers actually got this version.

“Every setback has a major comeback”

With this first preview of Windows 10, Microsoft also appears to be making some changes to its phone OS, that would make it a little bit more personal.

The same source reveals that, once installation comes to an end, every phone displays a quote from Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson that reads, “Every setback has a major comeback.”

Obviously, it's easy to speculate on the actual meaning of this phrase, and some believe that Microsoft itself agrees that Windows Phone 8 was more of a “setback,” but let's just wait and hear the official details that the company is very likely to provide anytime soon.

In the meantime, we're still waiting for an official announcement on the Windows 10 for phones release, so keep your fingers crossed to get it as soon as possible.
