14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 for phones preview was launched earlier today for six different Windows Phone models, so many device owners can't actually give it a try, even though they waited many months to get their hands on this release.
But the preview is actually expected to arrive on all phones, including flagships, in the coming weeks or months, as Microsoft says that it's working on a new feature that would make OS installation easier and faster on all devices.
Details are scarce right now on this new feature, but Microsoft promises to provide everyone with the update when work on what it's being called partition stitching will be completed.
More phones will be supported as new builds are released, Microsoft says, so expect flagships to get the update next month.
New features
Windows 10 for phones comes with a full-size background image for the start screen, which now allows you to customize the home screen even easier, as well as with interactive notifications that enable users to quickly answer to messages without launching the actual apps.
This feature has already been around for some time on other platforms, but with Windows 10 is also arrives on Microsoft's devices.
More Quick actions in the Action Center will also be released to better control your phone with just a few taps, while the new Office apps are installed from the very beginning to provide on-the-go productivity to all users.
Last but not least, the new OS comes with better speech-to-text capability, so you can basically speak to any data field on your phone.
Keep in mind though that Windows 10 for phones preview is still work in progress, so there are plenty of bugs around right now, which means that you might experience crashes and issues all of a sudden without even doing anything.
More stable builds are expected in the coming months when support for new phones will also be added.
