All signs point to a July date for the final bits of Windows

Microsoft has already announced that Windows 10 will be launched on July 29, but in the meantime, Windows insiders are still waiting to get additional testing builds of the operating system, which is living proof that work on it continues until the very last minute.

As a result, many are wondering when Windows 10 will actually reach RTM and what is the latest build of the preview that insiders will receive as part of the testing program, but until now, there’s no answer to these questions coming from Microsoft.

Based on rumors that are spreading all over the web these days, Windows 10 could reach RTM next month, but previous reports on this pointed to late June as the date when Microsoft could sign off the new operating system. So it’s either late June or mid-July, but the latter seems more likely.

Obviously, nobody can confirm this for now, especially because Microsoft is still working on Windows 10 and it could miss the scheduled date, but more information is likely to be provided next month at WPC 2015, when the company should introduce the new operating system to partners.

The latest build before RTM

The Windows insider program will continue even after Windows 10 reaches RTM, but the last build of the preview before this happens is likely to ship in early July, some people say.

According to Russian leaker WZor, this could be Windows 10 build 10138, which Microsoft will also send to partners for the last testing before RTM. If his information is correct, partners should receive this build on July 12, which is the day when this year’s Worldwide Partner Conference kicks off in Orlando.

As you can see, there are plenty of unconfirmed details right now, so don’t take anything for granted at this point because Windows 10 is still work in progress and a lot could change until the new operating system gets the green light.
