Designer creates new interpretation of multiple desktops

One of the features that will make their public debut in Windows 10 later this year is multiple desktops, an option that has already been around in other operating systems but has been missing from Microsoft's platform until now.

Multiple desktops are already supported in the Technical Preview builds of Windows 10, but the feature is rather basic right now and doesn't provide any configuration options at all.

Microsoft will most likely improve it in the upcoming updates, but in the meantime, designers across the world take their time to create their very own interpretations of what the new multiple desktops feature should look like in Windows 10.

This is the case of Matthew Langdon, who has already created several other eye-candy Windows concepts that have helped us envision the implementation of a number of features in the upcoming Windows 10.

This time, he imagined more features for multiple desktops, which would obviously boost productivity and app management but at the same time protect user's privacy.

Password-protected desktops

One of the features that Matthew included in the concept is the password-protected desktops, which allow users to set up a password for each desktop and thus make sure that no one can access them.

If you configure a password for a specific desktop, no preview thumbnail is generated, and you have to enter that password when clicking on it.

The multiple desktops button has been moved to the System Tray from the left side of the taskbar, near the Start button, where it's placed right now in the official Technical Preview build.

Another welcome addition to multiple desktops is individual wallpaper support, which allows you to set up wallpapers for each desktop you create.

And of course, the concept also comes with gadgets in the form of Modern apps that can be placed on the desktop below the other apps, which not only that is a really productive implementation but also looks good on the revamped Windows 10 desktop.
