Microsoft says it only focused on the “fundamentals”

Windows 10 for phones preview is now available for download for those who want to help Microsoft develop the next version of the mobile operating system, but some people are a bit disappointed with the number of changes that the company implemented in terms of appearance.

This is because this very early build of Windows 10 for phones is entirely created for users to try out what Microsoft calls “the fundamentals” of the operating system, which would bring the mobile OS closer to the PC and tablet siblings.

Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, says that much of the current work is focused on platform development and not on the “completeness” of the UI, so the upcoming Windows 10 for phones might look significantly different from what we can see right now in the preview build.

“Those ‘fundamentals’ represent a ton of work and are going to enable a lot of cool things to come, like apps that work seamlessly across devices, consistent manageability of devices, and the ability to run a whole new generation of Office Universal Apps on all of your Windows 10 devices,” Aul explains.

Transparency effects on their way

One of the improvements that Microsoft will implement in the coming updates is the possibility of setting up live tiles with transparency, which will basically allow you to see through them.

This new feature, combined with full-size Start screen backgrounds, will definitely make Windows 10 for phones a bit more eye candy, but it remains to be seen when exactly this feature could be shipped to Windows Insiders.

Microsoft hasn't provided too many details on how it plans to make Windows 10 more visually appealing on phones, but the company is already working at full speed to deliver more updates to users to make the release available on new Lumia models too.

The next update is expected to arrive in March, but Microsoft remains tight-lipped on the exact release date, so our only option for now is to wait and hope to get it as soon as possible.
