14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 build 10056 got leaked just when Microsoft was working to release Windows 10 for phones preview 10051, but despite all of these, plenty of users have rushed to download it and give it a try.
Build 10056 is the newest Windows 10 version that we can try, and at first glance, it already comes with a few surprises on the desktop.
The dark theme is now enabled by default, which is living proof that Microsoft is indeed working to add such a feature in the final version of the operating system. Some other color themes are also reportedly in the works, but in the meantime, the dark theme is here and available for you to try.
This new theme, however, doesn’t bring anything special, besides a black visual style for the taskbar and the notification center. Other improvements are expected in the coming builds as well.
Resizable Start menu
One of the most anticipated features in this build is the resizing capability for the Start menu, so you can now adjust it to better fit your desktop. Microsoft promised to bring back the resizable Start menu, and it turns out that build 10056 is the first one to get it, which could be a sign that the next official release could also bring this feature back.
In addition, the multiple desktops tool now allows you to drag windows from one desktop to another, while Task View comes with a fresh icon in the taskbar.
And speaking of new icons, there’s also a new icon for the Recycle Bin, which is nothing more than living proof that Redmond has indeed received your message and is working to restyle the Windows 10 icons.
Keep in mind that, if you do decide to download and install build 10056, you’re not getting any support from Microsoft, as the company does not recommend users to deploy leaked builds. So expect to come across bugs that could be really difficult to fix until the next build is released by Microsoft.
