14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft launched Windows 10 build 10049 10 days ago, but the new version is only available for users enrolled in the fast release channel, which usually means that bugs and issues are something to be expected.
Obviously, the new build was only released through the built-in update system, as Microsoft provides new ISOs for a clean install only when the version is ready for the slow ring. In other words, once the company manages to fix the most critical bugs in the original build, it pushes it to slow ring users and also rolls out new ISOs for everyone.
For build 10049, this could happen as soon as this week, Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, said today, as the company is now “evaluating” this to determine how many bugs have been fixed since the launch to fast ring users.
New build in late April
In the meantime, many have rushed to download and install the leaked build 10056, which does come with a number of improvements, including a built-in version of the famous Solitaire game, obviously with a modern twist.
As far as the next official release is concerned, Microsoft hasn’t provided any dates for this, but it could actually happen in late April, as the company has already promised to try providing insiders with fresh builds at a much faster pace.
Redmond was even considering the introduction of a new Windows 10 preview channel that would bring even earlier builds to those interested in trying them out, but no update has been provided on this plan.
Windows 10 is projected to launch in the second half of 2015, so Microsoft still has enough time to determine the best way to collect feedback and test certain features of the operating system, so expect more news on this in the coming weeks as work on the existing builds advances.
