Twitter-based challenges

Electronic Arts has announced that it plans to give away to gamers a brand-new, top-of-the-line BMW M3. The interesting thing is how the publisher aims to do it. The whole process will take place through the popular messaging service Twitter and will consist of challenges that will be announced during the next five days. Those who take part and don't get the car also have a chance to pick up copies of Need for Speed: Shift, Xbox 360 home gaming consoles, racing wheels, concert tickets and other lesser prizes.

In order to be in the running for the BMW M3, fans of the racing series will need to follow @NeedforSpeed on Twitter and be ready to complete the challenges that will be laid out in 140 characters or less. Each Twitter account can only have five entries in the contest, corresponding to the five challenges, but even those who only have one have a chance, albeit a smaller one, to win the car.

Unfortunately, only those who are older than 18 years of age and that can prove to be residents of the United States can actually take the car home. In case you need further clarification of the rules of the game, you can check out the official site of Need for Speed: www.needforspeed.com

Electronic Arts has recently put out Need for Speed: Shift, which is part of an effort to reboot the series following the disappointing last couple of games. Shift is more of a simulation than its predecessors and manages to blend crisp graphics with quite complex racing mechanics. The title has gotten pretty good reviews until now and Electronic Arts plans to expand the Need for Speed line by launching a more casual-oriented racer for handhelds, called Nitro, and a free-to-play MMO, featuring racing mechanics.
