Wikiasari is meant to be a revolutionary project

Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia based on open-source applications that is written by millions of users from the entire world, being available in multiple languages.

Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, said for The Times that he is planning to release a search engine with amazon.com that will challenge Google's search solution.

Because his well-known project Wikipedia is based on users' help, he plans to create a search engine that will be developed in the same way, including an innovative human algorithm search technology that will help users find more relevant result.

"Essentially, if you consider one of the basic tasks of a search engine, it is to make a decision: this page is good, this page sucks. Computers are notoriously bad at making such judgments, so algorithmic search has to go about it in a roundabout way. But we have a really great method for doing that ourselves. We just look at the page. It usually only takes a second to figure out if the page is good, so the key here is building a community of trust that can do that," he said for The Times.

It seems like all Jimmy Wales' plans are based on a Wikiasari - Google comparison, Wikipedia's founder saying that Google is one of the best search engines on the internet, but sometimes it is very useless.

"Google is very good at many types of search, but in many instances it produces nothing but spam and useless crap. Try searching for the term 'Tampa hotels', for example, and you will not get any useful results," he said according to The Times.

Personally, I think Wikiasari will be an interesting project but it will remain at the anonymous level because it's hard to think that a community-based search engine will overtake the performance of a well-developed search solution such as Google or Yahoo.
