Even pets dig the Wii and its controllers

In case you've been browsing the Internet this weekend and searching for Wii-related news, you might have come across an urban tale that seems unbelievable. It seems that a family dog from Loveland, Colorado has swallowed an entire Wiimote and started coughing blood afterwards. The owners of the pet took the poor thing to the vet, in order to cease its pain.

We don't know if it's all a rumor or a made-up story derived from a true event, but it seems that the dog is now safe and the Wiimote's out. This piece of information doesn't surprise us, as the dog's vet confirmed that these lovely creatures have a tendency to swallow almost everything they get their paws on. From rubber gloves, to eye glasses, video tapes or even entire cans of meat, everything goes for those canine companions.

The "Wii hungry" dog in question is a 3-year-old black Labrador, who'll probably stay away from Nintendo's console for a while. We've yet to find out what made the dog swallow the joystick, as it doesn't look edible at all, even if you're a pet. I'm betting on a couple of greasy hands that handled the Wii's controller after some major barbecue. This is all a supposition, but the canine must have felt the taste and smell of the meat, letting the controller go down his throat and into its belly.

Till now, we were afraid of the Wiimote's harmful potential for humans, as a clumsy gamer could allow the controller to fly out of his hand hitting someone in the face. Now, we'll also have to keep an eye on our dogs, because Nintendo's gaming device seems more appealing than ever to man's best friend. Hmm, let's see what pet is going to follow the Anaconda's example and start swallowing devices that almost can't fit its stomach ...
