Motion Plus packing

Nintendo has announced that it will be offering a Wii Sports Resort bundle in the United States for a limited time. The price of the bundle will be set at 59.99 dollars and will be bringing buyers two Motion Plus add-ons for the Wiimote. Players will be able to pick it up starting with October 12. The offer is part of an effort on the part of Nintendo to enhance the adoption rate for the add-on, which improves the motion-tracking accuracy of the Nintendo Wii.

The new Wii Sports Resort bundle is interesting because it saves the buyer some money, as the suggested retail price of the Wii Motion Plus is 19.99 dollars and the normal edition of Wii Sports Resort costs 49.99. Still, it would probably be a much better idea for Nintendo to start including the add-on for the Wii in the package of the console. The Japanese company is saying that close to three million Motion Plus devices are now in the hands of gamers.

Cammie Dunaway, who is the executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America, stated that, “Shoppers are looking for value as we head into the holiday season, and this Wii Sports Resort bundle is a gift that players of all ages and experience levels can enjoy.” At the moment, the Nintendo Wii has been confirmed as costing just 199 dollars, making it significantly cheaper than the Xbox 360 from Microsoft or the PlayStation 3 from Sony.

In relation to the Wii Motion Plus, Nintendo is facing a bit of a problem. On the one hand, it has this add-on that makes the console more capable when it comes to its signature-motion tracking, so it wants developers to include it in their plans. On the other hand, they are less than interested to do so because the installed base for it is rather limited at the moment and this means that they need to include dual mechanics.
