At least compared to other SMB-aimed desktop monitors

Professional and business displays come out often enough nowadays, and it's a pain to set them apart from consumer ones, seeing as how they all have the same aspect ratio more often than not, as is the case with the new NEC AS222WM.

That means we can only take NEC's word for it when its press release states that the new LCD widescreen display is made of small-to-medium-sized business users rather than everyone.

Anyway, the newcomer uses mercury-free LED backlighting (better energy efficiency than normal LED) and is ENERGY STAR 6.0 and TCO 6.0 certified, as well as EPEAT Silver rated.

The ECO Mode and carbon footprint meter definitely help the allure too.

As for the specs, they aren't that unusual: 16:9 widescreen, 1920 x 1080 resolution, VGA/DVI-D connectors, tilting stand. Touch support (not included by default), and integrated 1W speakers (two of them).

Sales will start this month at a price of $179 / €135.
