Backstage at the MTV Movie Awards 2011, the unthinkable happened: Jennifer Aniston and rumored beau Justin Theroux posed together for photos, thus confirming (as per the glossies) that they’re an item. Us Magazine has an explanation for why Jen suddenly decided to go public.

According to sources close to the couple, he was ready to stop hiding and she didn’t want him to become frustrated that she continued to keep the romance a secret from the media.

Aniston has always been very private about her romantic life but, since the media frenzy that followed her 2009 split from John Meyer (who chose to let her know they were done via a press statement), she’s been even more guarded.

All that seemed to change when she and Theroux went public – and it was for a very good reason, the aforementioned celebrity publication writes.

“Justin is ready to take their relationship public,” a source close to the actor, director and writer says for Us.

“She doesn’t want him to get frustrated with her usual covert way of doing things, so she’s compromising and relaxing about the paparazzi,” adds the spy.

Not only did the two pose for pictures together and made no secret of how they felt for each other at the post-awards party, but they even stepped out for dinner and did not try to hide from the paps.

“Indeed, after the Horrible Bosses star, 42, and the Rock of Ages screenwriter, 39, enjoyed a three-hour dinner at LA’s The Tower Bar on June 2, they departed in the same car,” Us writes.

“The last time the pair dined there, her assistant dropped Theroux off, even though both were coming from Aniston’s pad,” the publication adds.

Oddly enough, just as word is spreading that the two have decided to stop hiding from the press, reports are picking up that Theroux’s ex-girlfriend probably doesn’t know yet that she and him are no longer together, as we also noted the other day.
