This could very well be the discovery of the decade

The guys over at Minute Physics just uploaded the second video in a series of three short clips meant to explain in more basic terms the nature of the Higgs boson, and why its potential discovery is a big deal.

In an already-characteristic manner, the authors of the video present clearly the origins of mass, the role that the Higgs boson plays in allowing energy to acquire mass, and the weird property of massless particles. It also shows why photons cannot ever sit still.

Conversely, the video also explains why we can sit still, and why we are not able to achieve the speed of light. A clear differentiation between the Higgs field and the Higgs boson is also drawn. Maybe this will make it clearer to some that the fifth boson is not, in any way, God's Particle.
