Whoopi Goldberg says friend Donald Trump needs to educate himself on Ebola before making “idiotic” comments on Twitter

This week, 2 American missionaries who became infected with the Ebola virus in Africa were brought back to the US for treatment. All measures were taken for them to be quarantined, but as real estate mogul and television personality Donald Trump saw it, the best one should have been that of barring them from returning home.

Trump took to Twitter to blast politicians for allowing 2 Ebola patients, Americans or not, access into the US, saying that, this way, they were bringing the “plague” over here too. America has enough problems to deal with, it doesn’t need an Ebola outbreak as well, he ranted.

Moreover, he explained, these two missionaries (Dr. Kent Brantl and aid worker Nancy Writebol) traveled to Africa because they wanted to, so they must “suffer the consequences” of their actions and not have them risk others people’s lives by bringing them back to the US.

In other words, Trump said that these two people should basically be left to die in Africa because their initial choice of going there to help with the Ebola outbreak also included the calculated risk of catching the virus.

Well, that’s just “dumb,” Whoopi Goldberg said on The View the other day. You can see her reaction in the video below.

“I don't really know how to respond to it in a polite way,” she said. “I like Donald, I try to be respectful, but this was an idiotic comment. I'm not defending him, but he is also a friend of mine, so I don't want to be disrespectful to him. But that was a stupid comment.”

Whoopi went out of her way to stress that Ebola doesn’t “carry in the wind” and you can’t catch it by standing next to someone who has it, or if they sneeze or even fart on you. The Ebola virus is transmitted through exchange of bodily fluids so, while Whoopi “understands” what Trump is trying to say, she’s advising him to “do [his] research” before going on Twitter to rant.

Viewers of the talk show know that Whoopi can say whatever she has on her mind in the most blunt manner, with absolutely no regard to the other person’s feelings, but she’s going easy on Trump.

From his most recent tweets, he didn’t get the message because he’s still ranting on social media about the need to have authorities stop all flights from Africa to contain the Ebola outbreak and not have it spread to the US.
