If you’re sad Apple has discontinued the luscious White unibody MacBook, the last remnant of the non-Pro family of Apple notebooks, there’s a reason to smile. Today, the company is featuring a refurbished unit on its Special Deals zone and it’s attractively priced at $849 (US only).

Granted, the laptop is still an expensive one compared to current solutions on the market (not just Apple’s) and considering the specs, but for the die-hard Apple fan, pricing is a non-argument.

Originally released May 2010 with a refreshed unibody chassis made from the same polycarbonate material as its predecessor, the White MacBook has often been declared Apple’s most popular Mac.

And for good reason too, as it looks stunning and packs enough raw power to handle every type of activity, from office work to gaming, from photo editing to watching movies.

It boasts a 13.3-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, two USB 2.0 ports, stereo speakers, AirPort Extreme (802.11n), Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), a 250GB Serial ATA drive spinning at 5400 rpm, 2GB (2 x 1GB) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, the 8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW), and NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory.

The computer’s processor is Intel Core 2 Duo (1066MHz frontside bus) at 2.4 GHz. It ships pre-installed with Snow Leopard (which many people argue is better than Lion) and includes the iLife suite with iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand and iWeb.

The computer has several advantages over the popular MacBook Air Apple is selling for $999 brand new, such as the extra screen real-estate, the storage capacity (250GB HDD as opposed to just 64GB SSD), a more powerful processor, the optical disc drive (you never know when you need it), and battery life.

“Take MacBook with you everywhere without worrying about plugging in or even carrying your power adapter. Its built-in lithium-polymer battery now lasts up to 7 hours on a single charge, which makes it perfect for long flights, all-day workshops, and marathon study sessions,” Apple says.
