The five albino lion cubs born in captivity are amongst the rarest animals in the world

Just recently, employees of a safari park and of a zoo in Ukraine had a rather pleasant surprise: five albino lion cubs were born here, in spite of their parents being an old-school tawny color.

It is a well-known fact that lions are an endangered species and that not many of them are presently left roaming the wild. Taking into consideration the severe decline in this species' population, the chances of having five white lions cubs born in just one go were slim to none.

This makes these still small big cats a rare sighting.

Hopefully, the fact that so much media attention is given to these albino cubs will also lead to more people becoming aware of the dire need to protect this species.

Unaware of their importance, the cubs spend most of their time in the zoo's director office.

Down below you can watch a video reporting on this event.
