14 DAY TRIAL // BlackBerry Bold 9900, the first smartphone from the Canadian handset vendor Research In Motion to arrive on shelves with the new BlackBerry OS 7.0 on board, is expected to arrive in the UK all dressed up in white sometime in mid-October, the latest reports on the matter suggest. The mobile phone is expected to arrive on the UK market dressed in black sometime in September, and should put on the white coat as well only one month later.
The white flavor of this mobile phone is listed on Amazon UK with the said October 15th, release date attached to it, at a price tag of £549.99, SIM free and unlocked.
The black version of this handset is listed at the same price tag, but with a release date set for September 15th, 2011.
Chances are that the release date and pricing for the mobile phone would change as we move closer to the official release date, so keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.
In the meantime, we should note that BlackBerry Bold 9900 is the first smartphone that RIM launched on shelves with a touch&type design in a candybar form factor.
The handset comes with the popular Bold design, but pairs a touchscreen display with the QWERTY keyboard, and also adds a 1.2GHz application processor into the mix, for delivering increased performance capabilities.
The 2.8-inch touchscreen can deliver a 480 x 640 pixel resolution, while the processor is complemented by 768MB of RAM. On the back, the phone sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper with HD video recording capabilities.
The mobile phone also comes with 8GB of expandable memory via microSD memory card slot, as well as with WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, support for 3G networks, and with NFC (Near Field Communications).
