A young student from Indiana University lost a million dollars (€724,000) and a car in one night in what can be considered the most epic Wheel of Fortune fail.

Julian Batts participated in the popular game show last Friday and lost a round in big style, after failing to correctly pronounce the words on the board. Although every single letter was turned over and the puzzle was solved, he mispronounced the answer, “Mythological Hero Achilles,” and lost the chance to play for $1 million (€724,000).

His botched answer sounded something like “A-chill-us.” Well, he has probably never taken a course in Greek mythology, or maybe he is slightly dyslexic and he didn't know it until the show.

As a result of Batts' gaffe, the next contestant was given the chance to practically read the answer, and she did pronounce the phrase correctly.

However, Batts' bad luck didn't stop there, as later in the show he flubbed two other chances at winning big prizes, including a car and an international trip. He made people smile once again when he turned “on-the-spot decision” into “on-the-spot dicespin.”

But despite his mistakes, the student eventually won the game, even though he went home with a smaller amount of money.

“I don't think anyone has ever taken a more circuitous route to victory, but the important thing is you're here and you've got $11,700 [€8,500] and we're pleased about that,” the show's host Pat Sajak said, according to US Magazine.
