The application has been removed from Store more than 10 days ago

Are you one of the new Windows Phone users that have just switched from another mobile platform like Android and iOS? Well, you’re in bad luck, as one of the most popular messaging applications is not available for your Windows Phone device.

Obviously, it does not matter what Windows Phone handset you own, as WhatsApp Messenger was pulled from the Store a long time ago.

You can’t even download it from third-party stores and sideload it into your phone. Nope, you will just have to wait until WhatsApp developers republish the application in Windows Phone Store.

The bad news is that there is no official ETA for when WhatsApp may be available for download via Windows Phone Store once again.

While Microsoft has confirmed that it is now working with WhatsApp engineers to fix some of the application’s issues on Windows Phone, WhatsApp officials have not issued any statements until now.

Keep in mind that more than 10 days have passed since WhatsApp was pulled from Windows Phone Store, and during all this time, the only information we have received is that they have acknowledged some of the issues reported by users and are now working to fix them.

Well, this lack of communication has already brought some Windows Phone users close to despair. Some of them, who have just switched to Windows Phone, are thinking to turn to Android once again.

There are numerous threads on Microsoft’s support website where Windows Phone users show their discontent regarding the fact that WhatsApp is still unavailable and developers are still mum on the situation.

Although Microsoft might not be the one to blame here, the Redmond-based company has more to lose given the fact that many smartphone users depend on WhatsApp to communicate with their friends.

Here is what one of the fresh owners of a Windows Phone device has to say about the whole situation: “Is not that we are blaming WP for removing Whatsapp. But more to why the app is removed and no promises of when the app will be back, even if it really need a month to fix? Are the bugs so bad that it needs so much time to revamp the entire app? Already 12 days and no words from MS or WP dept.

Why will we blame Whatsapp when Android / iOS versions are working so well, and only Windows Phone users are suffering?? Even if it is about bugs, why does it need to be removed totally instead of releasing patches?? Everything is just so weird and not making sense! And yes, if this saga carry on without any confirmation from MS, I will switch for Android, permanently. Soon, WP will keep on losing more and more customers.”

For the time being, it’s unclear how many Windows Phone users are affected by the issue, but it’s certain that if the situation continues this way, without any official statements, both Microsoft and WhatsApp will lose some customers.

The most disgruntled will probably switch to Android or iOS, while others who do not blame Microsoft for this problem will start using other instant messengers already available in Windows Phone Store.

“Please don't give me & other users reason to leave windows phone behind & switch to Android or iPhone. Never expected this type of service from Windows. Please solve the problem. And next time, please notify the users well in advance if there's going to be some problems. Or else you’re going to lose your customers,” says another Windows Phone user.

The main issue would be the fact that some Windows Phone users may have lots of friends that use WhatsApp on Android or iOS devices and switching to a new instant messenger won’t be an option.

Obviously, most Windows Phone users unable to download WhatsApp Messenger will continue to use their phones and wait for the application to arrive in store once again.

However, the main problem would not necessarily be the fact that WhatsApp has been missing from Windows Phone Store for almost two weeks, but the lack of any official statements from developers.

What do you think a new Windows Phone user should do when he can’t download the only instant messenger his/her friends use and has no idea when it will be available? You are welcome to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
