Even though WhatsApp Messenger has recently been acquired by Facebook, the company has relentlessly pushed updates for its applications on all compatible mobile platforms, like nothing has happened.

We have already seen lots of security and privacy features being added to WhatsApp Messenger for Android and iOS, as well as Windows Phone, but what about “lesser” platforms like Nokia Asha.

Well, it looks like the company left Nokia Asha last regarding the addition of new features, which is understandable judging by the user database for each of these mobile platforms.

Those who own Nokia Asha phones and use WhatsApp will be pleased to know that developers are preparing a new update that will bring some of the features already delivered on Android and iOS.

According to TechMesto, new privacy options will soon be available for WhatsApp for Nokia Asha users. For the time being, these new features have been included in a beta version of WhatsApp, which can be manually downloaded via phone.

While updating to the latest beta version will not delete the chat history, keep in mind that you might experience bugs and possibly performance issues.

Anyway, those who decide that they can live with a beta version of WhatsApp installed on their Nokia Asha handsets will receive a few options that are not yet available for the general public.

Those who also own an Android or iOS device will certainly find these new features familiar, as they were included in a recent update.

Still, Nokia Asha users should know that the beta version of WhatsApp Messenger will add the ability to make the Last Seen status information available for a limited number of contacts in your phonebook.

You can set the Last Seen privacy option so that all contacts will have access to it or no one. The same goes for the Profile photo or your Status on WhatsApp. Developers have also introduced the option to block contacts from the Phonebook or those listed in the Call history.

In order to access these new features, those who decide to install WhatsApp Messenger Beta 2.12.19 for Nokia Asha will have to go to Options / Settings / Privacy.

The new Privacy tab contains the new options detailed earlier. You will be able to choose who has access to WhatsApp Status, Last Seen and Profile Photo. The options you will have at your disposal are Everyone, My Contacts or Nobody. Don’t forget to save before you set up you privacy options.
