New UI tweaks and additional abilities have been implemented

WhatsApp Messenger for Windows Phone is far behind its Android and iOS siblings in terms of development. The application lacks quite a few important features, including the ability to make and take voice calls.

But that's just one of the reasons WhatsApp for Windows Phone is still behind in comparison with other platforms. Many issues have been plaguing the application since its release, and some of them haven't been addressed yet.

The good news is developers have kicked off a beta program where Windows Phone users can try out new features and improvements before they are released for the general public.

Unfortunately, the beta program offers quite a limited number of spots for those who wish to test the application and provide their feedback.

Those lucky enough to have been accepted into the beta have already gotten some new features that are only available on Android, iOS and BlackBerry platforms.

The highly-anticipated voice calling feature has been implemented into WhatsApp Messenger beta for Windows Phone and is expected to be made available to the general public pretty soon.

Until then though, it looks like a new set of features and enhancements made their way to WhatsApp beta version for Windows Phone.

Delete calls and check out missed messages

According to WMPU, one of the major new features included in the latest version is the ability to display in-app notifications. Basically, you can now see a counter of calls and/or messages at the top of the application in case you missed any.

Also, in the latest beta users can delete calls from the calls list. When developers have added voice calling, it looks like they forgot to add the option to delete calls that you already made or received from the call list.

Last but not least, the folks over at WhatsApp have relocated the call button to the third button in the application's bar.

In case you're wondering when the stable WhatsApp Messenger for Windows Phone will get these new features, the only answer we have for the moment is “soon.”
