14 DAY TRIAL // Lake Forest, California-based storage vendor Western Digital has just announced the introduction of its new My Passport Essential SE portable USB drives, coming to provide users with an increased storage capacity of 750GB and 1TB. The introduction of the new external storage solutions comes as no surprise, with the company having already announced the release of the world's highest-capacity 2.5-inch hard disk drive, featuring an impressive 1TB of storage. The new portable drives are already available for sale through the company's online store, boasting a titanium silver finish.
“The enormous capacity of these new My Passport Essential SE drives makes them the perfect travel-friendly storage device to hold all the rich media content generated by higher resolution photos and HD videos and music,” said Dale Pistilli, vice president of marketing for WD's branded product group. “Carrying digital files close at hand continues to be a growing consumer interest and this new drive offers a sleek and stylish solution with plenty of storage capacity for people on the move.”
Featuring the current USB 2.0 standard connecting interface, the new portable hard disk drives from Western Digital can provide users with a maximum transfer speed of 480Mb/s. The drives also boast a 128-bit encryption feature, protecting the user's data when in a Windows-based operating system environment. The solution is compatible with both Windows and Mac-based computer systems, offering enhanced support to a wider range of users.
Weighing in at just 0.18kg, the new high-capacity, portable hard drives from Western Digital are designed to provide users with a maximum of storage space in a small form factor. As far as pricing and availability goes, the new drives are already available through the company's online store and select U.S. retail stores. The MSRP is US$299.99 for the My Passport Essential SE 1TB portable drive and US$199.99 for the 750 GB model.
