Doctors at a hospital in China's Hunan Province claim to have found a way to treat a 4-year-old girl whose body is covered in excess hair.

Jing Jing was born with a rare genetic disease which has caused her to grow abnormal amounts of hair not just on her face, but also on most of her body.

The hair covering this 4-year-old's body is thick and black, which is why Jing Jing is known to many as the werewolf girl.

Daily Mail reports that the genetic disease responsible for the girl's odd appearance has been previously documented by scientists, who call it Hypertrichosis universalis, or Ambras syndrome.

Because of how it affects a person's appearance, some have chosen to nickname this peculiar condition the werewolf syndrome.

Investigations have revealed that this disease boils down to a genetic mutation that has left Jing Jing body unable to switch off the growth of hair in areas where it has no business growing, such as her eyelids and her forehead.

The specialists who now have their minds set on treating Jing Jing's condition and ridding her of the excess hair maintain that, once they start the course of treatment, it will take about two years before the girl experiences noteworthy improvements in her appearance.

Thus far, no details concerning this treatment have been shared with the public.

However, the girl's mother seems quite confident in the doctors' ability to cure her daughter and help her live a normal life.

While speaking to members of the press, Jing Jing's mother thanked doctors for agreeing to take on this case and said that she was very grateful for everything they had done for her child.

The plastic surgery hospital where this girl's condition is to be treated is located in Changsha, the capital city of China's Hunan Province.
