Formerly Windows Live Custom Domains

Windows Live Custom Domains has grown up concomitantly with the introduction of the second wave in the evolution of Windows Live. In this context, Windows Live Custom Domains moved past the limitations associated with a hosted email service and is now positioned as a more complex set of offerings. Microsoft in fact underlined that the rechristening of the service is only the most superficial of the modifications delivered to Windows Live Custom Domains and perhaps the one with the least amount of impact.

"We're changing the name to better reflect our features and capabilities, but don't worry, this is still where you access the same great features you did with Custom Domains. In fact, we're introducing exciting new features we think you'll really like. Thank you for understanding as we transition to our new name," Microsoft explained.

Essentially, the primary functionality of Windows Live Admin Center is to enable users to benefit from personalized email addresses associated with their domain name. This option is available if the email address is connected to an actually functioning website or merely with a domain name. But now with the revamping of Windows Live Custom Domains under the Windows Live Admin Center, Microsoft is also offering a richer bouquet of options.

"We're excited to introduce the ability to customize Windows Live services like Windows Live Hotmail with your own logo. Now your domain users will see your organization's logo every time they check their Hotmail. Just select the co-branding link in the left navigation to get started," Microsoft added.

Simultaneously with the revamping and on top of the co-branding capabilities, the Redmond company is also providing extended flexibility when it comes down to managing subdomains and the redirection to a variety of Windows Live items including Live Space, Live Maps or Live Search.
