E3 2013 starts next week and it's going to be one of the most intense events in the history of the convention, as both Sony and Microsoft will show off their next-generation consoles, in the form of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively.

Both consoles have received lots of details in recent months, with Microsoft making some big reveals a few days ago about the Xbox One's policies concerning games, both new and pre-owned, and how they can be shared in various circumstances.

Meanwhile, Sony is probably thinking long and hard about either implementing similar restrictions, in order to please video game developers and publishers, or make the PlayStation 4 as free as the current PS3, and please gamers that want to continue playing used games.

Either way, the amount of details that will be shared at E3 2013 will certainly make or break the future of the two consoles.

While no doubt fans hope to hear practically all the new details about the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, including actual prices, actual release dates, and actual specs, there's a pretty big possibility that at least some of those things will be kept a mystery by Sony or Microsoft until later this year.

The real fight at E3 will be held in terms of games, as both companies are preparing an onslaught of both first-party and third-party titles that will be showcased at their respective conferences but also on the show floor.

Considering Microsoft is reportedly using underhanded tactics to steal the thunder from the PlayStation 4, it's going to be interesting to see how Sony's game lineup will stack up to the Xbox One.

One thing's for sure, however, gamers will certainly be pampered by both companies during E3, especially since the last few events were focused much more on entertainment and more mainstream things.
