The notorious RedHack hacker collective has launched a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack against the official website of the Turkish National Police (egm.gov.tr).

The hackers have told me that the attack has been launched in protest against police brutality during the recent demonstrations in Turkey. RedHack believes Turkey has become a police state.

The hacktivists have dedicated this attack to all those who lost their lives or were injured over the past period.

Currently, the website of the Turkish National Police appears to be working properly.

This summer, RedHack has targeted several high-profile Turkish websites. The list includes the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (tbb.gov.tr), Adana’s Water and Sewage Administration (adana-aski.gov.tr), Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs, and the Istanbul Special Provincial Administration (ioi.gov.tr).

In the case of the Istanbul Special Provincial Administration, the hacktivists have claimed to have erased debts.
