The Round Rock ISD site was reportedly breached due to weak passwords

Over the weekend, hackers breached and defaced the official website of the Round Rock Independent School District (ISD) in Texas. The site has been taken offline following the breach.

According to KVUE, adult and racist content was posted by the hackers on several pages. However, the organization’s representatives say the server on which the website is hosted does not store any personal information.

E Hacking News has found a post that references the breach on a popular hacker forum. The post has been removed, but its author claimed that the website’s administrators had used weak login credentials for the website, namely “admin” for the username and “admin1” for the password.

At the time of writing, roundrockisd.org displays a message which informs visitors that the organization’s websites are currently unavailable.
