14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has just announced the release of a new mobile application for devices running under its Windows Phone operating system, called 'We’re In.'
The purpose of this application is a simple and appealing one: to offer users the possibility to view where their friends are on the map, and also interact with them.
“We’re In makes organizing get - together’s, carpooling and trying to find people in a crowd a breeze. Any time you want to see where your friends are - We're In can help you,” the Bing team at Microsoft notes in a blog post.
“It's simple, invite your friends, and when they join, they'll see your location and you'll see theirs. When the invite expires, so does the shared location – no complicated process to worry about.”
With the new application users will find it easier to plan trips to meet with their friends. They can find and connect with friends easier and faster than before, all straight from the mobile phone in their hands.
Not to mention that the We’re In application comes with simplicity of usage that any phone owners is looking for.
All that users need to do is to enter their phone number to signup. Then, they can invite friends to share their location from the contacts application. What one can share also includes the amount of time he / she will spend at a specific location.
“Pick your friends from the contact list or enter their phone number, tell them what the plan is. At this point you can choose how long you want to share location info,” the development team explains.
“Your friends receive a text message with these details. They can use the app to join you or, for friends that don't have a Windows Phone, they can join from the mobile website via the invite.”
As soon as a friend joined, his / her location will appear on the map. To view more or fewer of their friends on the phone's screen, users can easily pan, pinch and stretch the map. The location of a user will be visible to all other users that join in.
The application also enables users update their status message so that friends would know what is going on. To see a status message, one would have to tap the friend's tile on the map.
“To stop sharing your location info at any time, just tap 'leave' on the People tab. If you want, you can send them a status message to let them know that you're leaving,” the development team explains.
“And when the time is up, the invite expires and location sharing stops. You don't need to do anything,” they conclude.
