Sony is offering users a chance to grab not only a VAIO W Series but also the latest iteration of the Windows client from Microsoft. In addition, the Tokyo-based company is also offering participants to the contest centered on Windows 7 the possibility to win a trip at the official release event of the operating system in the UK. “Are you proud?” is the question that Sony is asking users in its welcoming message to the Windows 7 Pride Contest, also an invitation to join the Windows 7 Fanclub.
For the Windows 7 Pride Contest, Sony has launched the We Are Windows 7 webpage, an effort reminiscent of Microsoft’s very own user oriented aspect of the I’m a PC marketing campaign, in which customers were encouraged to share the reasons why they were a PC. “Are you a big fan of Windows 7? Then you have a good shot at being nominated 'Europe's Proudest Windows 7 Member'! Put your face on our 'Windows 7 Wall'; and WIN: an amazing trip to the Microsoft Windows® 7 Announcement Event in London; a VAIO W Series with Windows 7 pre-installed,” Sony promised.
The Windows 7 Pride Contest is opened to all residents of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, provided that they are at least 18 years old. The Prize Contest has debuted on October 1st, 2009 and is scheduled to end on December 31st, 2009 at 23:59, according to Sony. The computer manufacturer will offer no less than four prizes.
“In total, there will be four (4) winners in the Prize contest based on the higher score (best vote scoring).One winner for the Microsoft Windows7 launch event and 3 winners for a Sony VAIO W Series (one per month),” Sony explained. “The winner of the Prize Contest for Microsoft Windows7 Announcement will receive a 2 days trip to London (one night stay) and for one person of his/her choice and a Sony VAIO W Series (VPCW11S1E colour can be chosen by the winner-price for the VAIO W Series: €449,00/£349,00).”
All that users need to do in order to be eligible for the prizes is to simply sign up. In order to do so they need to have either a Facebook or a Twitter account.
